Obituary for J.D. Wells

J.D. Wells, 85, husband of Jenny Faulkner Wells, of Nicholasville, Kentucky died on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Fayette County, Kentucky on August 8, 1931 to the late Roy Gilbert and Ruby Jenkins Wells. J.D. was a well known Southern Belle Distributor and a bus driver for Jessamine County Schools for many years. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church, Good Samaritan Camping Club and an avid UK Basketball Fan. Additional survivors include children, Jeff Wells, Jennifer Wells (Tony VanDyke) Lane, Michael Dudley Wells(David Fucella), John Paul (Lisa) Wells, Richard Allen Mahan, Dave (Dana) Mahan and Jimmy (Abbie) Mahan, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, three sisters, Isabelle Brumfield, Jewell Smith and Marjorie Moore. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 12:30 PM, Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Schaars officiating. Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Buddy Wells, Keith Wells, Josh Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, Jason Jacobs and Aaron Jordan. Honorary bearers will be J.T. Wells, Stephen Mahan, David F. Mahan, Katherine Filiatreau, Dr. A. Stevens Wrightson, Dr. David Blake, Scott Pruitt, David Pennington, Tommy Congleton, Paul Faulkner, David Faulkner, Van Maletich and Victor Robinson. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday and 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Online guestbook
