William “Butch” Curtis Elks Jr., 75, husband of Lisabeth “Libby” Rae Manning Elks, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at his home on Hickory Hill in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 3, 1950, to the late William Curtis Elks Sr. and Frances Wolfenbarger Elks. Butch worked as a finish carpenter for many years. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Libby; sons, William Curtis Elks III, and Matthew Warren Elks; daughter, Mary Melissa Elks (Casey McCullough); sisters, Darlene Atwood (Gary), Susan Cameron (Ray), and Kim Fields (Bobby); grandchildren, Emily Elks, Payton Elks, Ethan Elks, Lisabeth Elks, and Presley Elks; as well as great-grandchildren, Eliyah Clark and Emarah Clark, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Elks; and sister-in-law, Libby Elks. Graveside services and Military Rites will be performed at 9:00 AM, Friday, May 23, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Burney Manning officiating. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, at Betts & West Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Payton Elks, Presley Elks, Ethan Elks, Envy Clark, Bobby Lee Fields, and Joe Manning. Serving as honorary bearers will be Gary Atwood, Bobby Fields, Ray Cameron, Tim Manning, and Mark Manning. Betts & West is honored to serve Butch and his family in their time of need.
