Wanda Lee Curtis Newby

Wanda Lee Curtis Newby, age 77, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away at her son’s home in Garrard County, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 16, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1948, in Powell County, Kentucky, to the late Henry Clay Curtis and Virgie Carrie Robinson Curtis. Wanda was a longtime employee and cashier at our local Walmart and a member of Harmony Fellowship Church. She is survived by her children, two sons, Aaron Allen Newby and Branden Lee Newby, and a daughter, Edith Louise Preston, and husband Bill, six grandchildren, Ariel Michelle Newby, Catlin Lee Newby, Devin Slade Newby, Marshall Andrew Newby, Billy Shane Newby, and Julius Branden Newby, and three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Westfall, Kayden Hensley, and Kolton Hensley. Additional survivors include brothers Donald Ray Curtis and his wife Pat, Ralph Wayne Curtis and his wife Wilma, Robert Allen Curtis and his wife Sheila, and two sisters, Leila Jane Curtis and Mary Jo Johnson. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Clay Curtis. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lee Curtis officiating. The burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Devin Newby, Marshall Newby, Billy Newby, Stephen Curtis, Allan Curtis, and Hunter Curtis.
