Born in Washington County, KY, on September 13, 1944, Wanda was the fifth of six children of Sterlin and Ramie (Armstrong) Bishop. She graduated from Mackville High School and later from the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. In 1965, Wanda married Earl Ingram of McKee, KY, and the two shared more than 50 wonderful years together until Earl’s passing in 2017. She was also the devoted mother of Lee Todd Ingram, who passed away in 1998.
While Wanda was many things: a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was perhaps best known as “Aunt Wanda”. She had a special way of making everyone feel like family, and it showed in the many nieces, nephews, and loved ones who gathered around her in her final days. Whether related or simply connected through friendship, countless people proudly called her “Aunt Wanda”.
Wanda had a lifelong love of animals and cared for an unforgettable assortment over the years: dogs, cats, horses, chickens, a skunk, and even a miniature donkey. Every creature under her roof was treated with kindness and never lacked for anything. She also enjoyed cheering on the University of Kentucky, listening to country music, reading, and spending time with the many friends and family members who brightened her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her son, Lee Todd; her parents, Sterlin and Ramie; her brothers, Dewane and Gayron; and her sisters, Anna Helen Carey, Norma Jean Sims, and Sheldia Sparks.
