Theresa Gail Cheek

Theresa Gail Cheek, 71, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at 7:21 AM in her home, with her loving husband, Eldon Cheek, by her side. Raised in Lexington, Kentucky, Theresa was the daughter of the late Charles Hobbs Sr. and Ruby Davis Hobbs. For 54 beautiful years, she was married to the love of her life, Eldon Cheek Sr., building a life anchored in faith, family, and home. A founding member of Harmony Fellowship Church, her relationship with Jesus was important to her. Theresa was a woman of simple pleasures. She loved nothing more than a fresh cup of coffee, a day spent thrifting or hunting for treasures at yard sales, and being surrounded by her family. She loved spoiling her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, always taking them shopping and buying them whatever their hearts desired. Her sharp humor and devotion to her faith were encapsulated in her favorite, affectionate go-to refrain, "You better go to church." She is survived by her beloved husband, Eldon Cheek Sr.; her four children: Judy Mullis, Eldon Cheek Jr. (Candice), Mary Young (Josh), and David Cheek (Sarah); her siblings: Pam Hudson (Ron), Tammy Smithers, Mary Bowman, and Charles Hobbs Jr. (Lori); her cherished grandchildren: Austin Murphy, Dallas Murphy (Ashley), Caitlin Lamb (Jake), Elizabeth Perry (Bryce), Brett Cheek (Avery), Coleman Cheek, Charles Cheek, and Callie Cheek; and her great-grandchildren: Matthew Murphy, Maggie Murphy, and Raiden Lamb. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. and Ruby Hobbs, and her sister, Lisa Henderson. Visitation and funeral services are open to all who wish to honor her life. Visitation will be Monday, October 12, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with her Funeral Service being Tuesday, October 13, at 11:00 AM, both at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery.
