Sylvia Evans Parrish

Sylvia Evans Parrish, 81, departed this life at her home in Wilmore on Thursday, October 14, 2021. Sylvia was born June 26, 1940, in Docena, Alabama, one of ten children born to Aaron Reece and Julia Rena Aldridge Evans. As a young teenager, she committed her life to Jesus Christ and was a faithful follower all her life. Sylvia retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, having worked in Washington DC and Lexington, KY. She also worked eleven years at Asbury University and one year at the University of Kentucky. She was a master of knitting and other needlecraft, creating countless sweaters, coats, afghans, crocheted works, and needlepoint pieces. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim, two sons, Mark (Becky) and Troy, three grandsons, Ian, Sam, and Caleb, a sister, Eva, and a brother, Phillip. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Wilmore Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
