Richard Edwin Mobley

Richard Edwin Mobley, 74, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, holding hands with his wife of 54 years, Beverly Jean Jackson Mobley. Richard was a father to Dominique Waits (Chris Waits) and Pamela Preston (Chris Preston), and Big Poppy to grandkids Melanie and Braeden Preston, and Dopey to granddaughter Mackenzie Waits. He was born March 4, 1952, in Lexington, KY, to parents Jack and Elizabeth Mobley. He is one of nine siblings: Jack (Connie) Mobley, Barbara (Harvey) Masengale, David (Cassie) Mobley, James Mobley, Pat (Craig) Brown, Sherry (Don) Roe, Glenda (Karen) Mobley, and Jeff (Debbie) Mobley. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, and was always the life of the party. He was a carpenter who built a successful business and taught his craft to many people who have continued the trade. He was the first to accept an invitation or pay his respects and would be there without question to help any time he was needed. He loved spending time chatting with folks as he never met a stranger. He loved his family and found great joy spending time with his grandkids. He was baptized at Southland Christian Church on December 7, 2022. He returned to the Lord quietly, surrounded by love. Per his wishes, he will be remembered privately by his wife, daughters, and their families. His siblings will host a celebration of life on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM at Beaumont Bar and Grille on Lakecrest Circle in Lexington, KY.
