Michael William Smith

Michael William Smith, 78, husband of Kathleen Peters Smith, of Sulphur Well Pike, Nicholasville, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Lexington. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 9, 1948, to the late William and Elizabeth Rose Holt Smith. Michael retired from Blue Grass Energy, where he worked as a Staking Engineer. He was a member of the Trinity Life Center in Lexington for over 46 years. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, two sons, Jonathan Michael (Jeannie Napier) Smith, and Joshua Michael (Sherice) Smith, a daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Morgan) Stinnett, two brothers, Steve (Lucy) Smith, and Howell John Sizemore, five sisters, Carol Martin, Cherly Cook, Mary Jane (Frankie) Adamson, Marilyn (James) Rekers, and Betty Jo Sparks, seven grandchildren, Jessie Brooke, Faith Marie, Kathryn Grace, Desmon Michael, Michael Kaden, Gabriel William, and Scout Phillip, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jackie Goins, Debbie Pennington, Rosilee Braun, a daughter, Melissa Gayle Reynolds, and three step-siblings, Ralph Sizemore, Connie Cunnigan, and Anna Lee. Services will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Rev. Ashley Noe officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Howell Sizemore, Jonathan Smith, Joshua Smith, Desmon Smith, Kaden Smith, Will Adamson, Steve Peters, and Mike Reynolds.
