Manuel Leander Walters

Manuel Leander Walters, Sr. age 90, widower of Sue Carolyn Ball Walters, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. Manuel was born in Calhoun, Louisiana, on August 14, 1936, to the late Leander Walters and Estaline Averitt Walters. He was a United States Army veteran and worked as an electrical contractor. Survivors include three sons, Manuel Walters, Jr. (Betsy), Mark Anthony Walters (Teresa), and Connie Wayne Walters, (Jo), three daughters, Denise Adams (Steve), Kimberly Sue Gross (Dempsey), and Lelia Huffman (Tag), grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Anna, Joseph, Mark, Kristin, Jessica, John Brandon, Josh, Amber, Torri, Emma, Stevie, Dempsey, Jr., Brittianie, Alex, Robert and Justin, and a multitude of great grandchildren. Additional survivors include a sister, Brenda Pamilia (Ken), and a brother, Milton Walters. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Walters and Ronnie Walters. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. The burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, with his grandsons serving as bearers. The visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 4-8:00 PM, at the funeral home. A bereavement meal will follow the service at 2991 Union Mill Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356.
