It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucian "DALE" Durham, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the age of 63. Dale's journey began in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 6, 1963, born to the late Lucian Allen Durham and Betty Jean Burton Durham. Dale's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and his work. He shared 25 years of devoted service with the City of Nicholasville as a skilled mechanic, where his expertise, diligence, and warm-hearted nature earned him the respect and admiration of coworkers and friends alike. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his wife, Natalie Embry Durham, and their two sons, Justin Dale (Kelsey) Durham and Payton Jake Durham (Mattie Albertson). Dale was a proud and devoted grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren: Jake, Matthew, Emma, and Daniella, whose lives he enriched with his boundless love and wise guidance. Dale's memory is lovingly cherished by his siblings, Paul (Sherrie) Durham, Patsy Brown, Timmy Durham, and Tammy Durham. He is also remembered fondly by his mother-in-law, Cheryl Jones, Aunt Donna Embry Hammond, his brothers-in-law Mark Perkins, Chase (Britney) Noble, Jake (Jamie) Embry, and Calvin (Amber) Embry, his sister–in–law LeeAnn (Mitchell) Marshal, and his loyal and loving dog, Mac, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Lucian Allen Durham and Betty Jean Burton Durham, his brother Carl Allen Durham, and his father-in-law, J.L. "Jake" Embry, whose spirits undoubtedly welcomed him home. Dale was a man of many passions, most notably his love for old trucks, which he enjoyed restoring with a masterful touch. He found joy and camaraderie in playing softball, tackling mud runs, and sharing rounds of golf with his sons. A devoted sports enthusiast, Dale was a steadfast supporter of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the University of Kentucky, relishing every moment spent cheering them on. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Bluegrass Hospice, and especially to Shanna, for their compassionate care and support during Dale's courageous battle with cancer. Dale faced his illness with remarkable strength and grace, ultimately passing away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family. As we celebrate Dale's life, we honor his enduring spirit and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be forever missed but never forgotten. In the words of his family, Dale will remain "Forever in our Hearts." Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Dale's life and legacy, where stories will be shared, tears will be shed, and laughter will echo the joyous memories he leaves behind. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 19, 2026, from 5-9:00 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with his son, Justin Durham, and Brother Mickey Stinnett officiating. The burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Robert Riley, John Caldwell, Phillip Smith, Jeff “Chubby” Smith, Brett Durham, and Mac Stipe.
