Linda Rose Bowman “Zilla” McElroy, 71, passed away, Friday, August 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, with her family by her side after her battle with breast cancer. She was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky on October 11, 1951, to the late Lewis Bowman and Mary Mae Davis. Linda was employed by the Jessamine County Fiscal Court for 23 years. She absolutely adored Elvis Presley, reading, and doing arts and crafts. She also went to Sulphur Well Christian Church. Survivors include her children, Matthew (Samantha) Church, Shaun (Amber) Church, Melinda Rose Combs, Amber (Jeremy) Carr, and Ashley (Mike) Church, grandchildren, Kelsey (Brian) Dunaway, Lewis Smith, Jayce, Blake, Elijah, Jackson, Brayden, Connor and Lillian, and brothers, Jeffrey Clay (Nora) Bowman and Lucian Ray (Anita) Davis, her special niece, “Tootsie bug” Rebecca Hensley, nephew, Blaine (Ashely Bowman), special friend, Linda King, and her sweet fur babies, Sugar and Lulu. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her significant other, Edward Church, and her brother James Bowman, and sister-in-law, Michelle Bowman. Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 17, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Minister John Sanders officiating. Bearers will be Rebecca Michelle Hensley, Riddle Hensley, Brian Honeycutt, Kelsey Dunaway, Jeff Bowman, and Lucian Davis. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honorary bearers will be Lewis Smith, and Linda Peel. Visitation will be 4-8:00 PM, Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve Linda and her family.
