Lina Ann Laswell

Lina Ann Holman Laswell, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Brodhead, Kentucky, to the late Harrison and Daisy Holman.

Lina Ann possessed a fiery spirit, a compassionate heart, and a contagious smile that endeared her to so many throughout her life. On December 21, 1956, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Willie Laswell. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, raised two sons, and shared nearly 70 years of marriage.

Throughout her life, Lina Ann was known for her remarkable work ethic and dedication to others. Her career included several years at Parker Sill, but she was best known for more than 40 years of delivering newspapers, affectionately known throughout the community as "the paper lady." Alongside her husband, Willie, she faithfully served in ministry, founding and pastoring Chapel Hill Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Her devotion to her church family and unwavering support for her husband defined her life.

Lina Ann embraced life with enthusiasm and purpose. She found great joy in tending to her flower beds, playing softball, bowling, and traveling. She devotedly supported Willie and their sons, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on in their athletic endeavors.

Above all, Lina Ann treasured her family, especially her grandchildren. Whether cooking together, going shopping, or taking them on vacations whenever possible, she delighted in making memories with those she loved most. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and the time she shared with them brought her immeasurable happiness.

Lina Ann lived her life with purpose, passion, and an unmistakable love for others. Her spirited personality, generous heart, and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, Lina Ann was preceded in death by her son, John Laswell; three brothers, Ted Holman, Joe Holman, and Gary Holman; and her brother-in-law, Doug Barnett.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Willie Laswell; her son, Greg Laswell (Bettianne); her siblings, Carolyn Barnett, Judy Doyle (Larry), and Harry Holman (Beverly); her grandchildren, Michael Laswell (Adrienne), Erin Rusher (Casey), Blake Dunn (Melissa), Brittany Dunn, and Savannah Laswell (Jared); seven great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Michelle.

Lina Ann's legacy of faith, strength, devotion, and unconditional love will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
