Jesse Harold Jones

Jesse Harold Jones died on April 1, 2023, after a lengthy bout with Alzheimer’s at the age of 91, at Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY. Sonny, as he was known by his family, was born on October 2, 1931, to Jesse and Mary Jones, in West Brownsville, PA. He was married to Letha Sybil Gemmell on April 4, 1952, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, in West Brownsville, PA.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Letha Gemmell Jones; his children, Daniel Christy Jones (Rebecca Louis Jones), Cincinnati, OH; David Walter Jones (Susan Durden Jones), Maryville, TN; Anita Lynn Sweetser (Charles Randall Sweetser), Wilmore, KY; Wendy Lee Jones, Wilmore, KY; and son-in-law, Roy Earl Phillips, McCormick, SC. He is also survived by his siblings, Raymond Eugene Jones, Linda Jones Cmar, and Daniel Wayne Jones, all from Pennsylvania, twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Jesse is predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Jones Phillips; grandson, Jesse Carl Phillips; siblings, Bertha Jones Grimm, David Russell Jones, Carl Robert Jones, Shirley Jones Nicholson, and Nancy Jones Humphrey, and an infant brother, Richard Allen Jones; and his parents, Jesse James Jones and Mary Patterson Jones.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church, 1200 Lexington Rd, Wilmore KY 40390 on Saturday the 6th of May, 2023, at one-clock in the afternoon.
