Janet Karen Welch

Janet Karen Welch, age 77, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in Danville, Kentucky. She was born July 25, 1949, to the late Bill Locker and Evelyn Burton Locker. Janet was the beloved wife of Jimmy Welch and a longtime hairdresser in Jessamine County, where she made many friendships throughout the years. She was a member of Mount Lebanon Methodist Church, loved the Lord, and found great joy in sharing stories with those around her. Janet will be remembered for her joyful spirit, love of conversation, and the warmth she brought to others' lives. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, and all who knew and loved her will fondly remember her stories, laughter, and cheerful personality. In addition to her husband, Jimmy Welch, she is survived by her daughter, Stacy Applegate, and her husband, Andrew Grant; two grandchildren, Andee Grace Applegate and Jaxson Welch Applegate; and her two beloved bulldogs, Kevin and Poncho. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Edgewood Baptist Church, with Steve Gray officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
