James Harold Humphrey, Wilmore, Kentucky, born March 30, 1958, to Bowman and Joan Humphrey, joined his Lord and Savior at his home on May 26, 2025.
James leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Linda; daughters, Kayla Humphrey, Wilmore, KY, and Jessica (Will) Jones, Versailles, KY; and 2 grandchildren, Viviann and Lucas Jones. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Bob (Debby) Humphrey, Wilmore, KY, Barry (Robin) Humphrey, Nicholasville, KY, and Debby Johnson, Lexington, KY. He was the fun-loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
James started his own construction business and worked alongside his brothers, Bob and Barry Humphrey. He was an active and Lifetime Honorary member of the Bluegrass Horse Pulling Association. Recently, he served as President of the Association for 11 years, making the Midwinter Horse Pull at Lakeside Arena one of the largest and most competitive horse pulls to attend. James had Belgian Pulling Horses most of his life that he pulled not only in Kentucky, but across the country as far as Utah, New York, and Florida. His favorite trips included going to the Amish Country in Montgomery, Indiana, where many of the horses originated and he became close friends with many in their community. He enjoyed any gathering with friends and family, but especially those in his barn that first belonged to his father, who started his love for horse pulling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda, and brother-in-law, JB Johnson.
