Imogene "Emma" Blakeley

Blakeley, Imogene “Emma” Knott died August 9. 2024. Born on September 18, 1940, in Daviess County KY to Michael R. and Rosalie Abell Knott. She graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School and attended Brescia University. She retired from Mellon Bank (DE). She was a volunteer with Hospice of Delaware. At St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (Louisville) she was active in the rosary group and St. Al’s Aces. She also set up the church for daily mass for many years.

Surviving is her husband of 64 years Joseph E. and their children, Julie Ann Blakeley (Boynton Beach, FL), Amy Marie (Jimmie) Greenwell (Nicholasville, KY) and Edward Alan Blakeley (Louisville, KY). Grandchildren Sarah Fraley (Jeff), Jimmie Greenwell (Kirsten), Joseph Greenwell (Shelby), Robert Greenwell (Olivia) and Jeffrey Blakeley. Great grandchildren Harrison, Madison and Lauren Greenwell, Ava and Ella Fraley, Isla Greenwell. Her brother J.C. Knott and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; infant daughter Mary Catherine Blakeley; brothers Charles, Paul and Michael Knott; sisters Lucille Hayden, Helen Woodward, Jane Konrad, Dorothy Calhoun, Carolyn Knott and Mary Ruth Cecil. Brothers-in-law Julian Hayden, Rudy Woodward, James Calhoun and Bernard Cecil. Sisters-in law Dorothy Knott and Barbara Knott.

Emma enjoyed traveling with Joe. They visited most of the 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska. They also took many trips to Canada and several European countries; including the 2010 Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany. They enjoyed a 50th anniversary trip to Turks and Caicos with family. 

Her funeral mass will be at noon on September 3, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 304 S Main St., Nicholasville KY 40356, preceded by the Rosary at 11:40 a.m. Inurnment will be at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Owensboro, KY at noon on September 18. 2024.
