Ida Gayle Canter Teater, 78, loving wife of Bradley Wayne Teater, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Baptist Health Lexington after a short illness. Gayle was born on November 29, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late A.G. Canter and Ida Ruth Montgomery Canter. She was a homemaker and also retired from the Jessamine County Board of Education, where she worked as a teacher's assistant at Nicholasville Elementary for many years. She was a member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association and was also a lifelong member of Little Hickman Christian Church, where she was very active, and enjoyed playing piano for many years. The survivors are two children, Gregory Teater and his wife, Tracy, Crystie Young and her husband, Matt, as well as four grandchildren, Zach Young, Lexi Young, Ashleigh Teater, and Kelcie Teater. Additional survivors include her sister, Becky Hilterbran, a brother, David Canter, and a sister-in-law, Thelma Watkins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her baby sister, Wanda Carol Canter, and by her brothers-in-law, Michael Hilterbran and Steve Watkins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Baltzer officiating. The burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The bearers will be Greg Teater, Matt Young, Zach Young, Darby Montgomery, Glenn Montgomery, and David Canter. Visitation will be from 4-9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the funeral home.
