Helen Frances Wells Rankin, 93, widow of Leonard “Dickie” Rankin, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was born in Fayette County on August 20, 1929, to the late Floyd Wells and Anna Belle Herrington Wells. She worked at Jessamine County High School in the lunchroom and was a member of the Richmond Road Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, William (Linda) Rankin, and Richard (Brandy) Rankin; daughter, Kaye (Charlie) Floyd; grandchildren, Anthony (Amy) Rankin, Morgan Rankin, Nathan Rankin, Kevin (Jessica) Floyd, and Melanie (Stacy) Simpson; as well as great-grandchildren, Rylee Rankin, Madison Rankin, Lilah Rankin, Kate Simpson, Brantley Simpson, Bryce Floyd, and Josie Floyd and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Dickie, she is preceded by ten siblings. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 27, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Dr. Carl Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where bearers will be Anthony Rankin, Morgan Rankin, Nathan Rankin, Kevin Floyd, Ken Wells, and Jeff Carter, honorary bearers will be Bryce Floyd, Gary, and Diane Antone, and Dottie Myers. Visitation will be held the day prior, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Rankin family in their time of need.
