Gloria Mae Woods, November 29, 1926 - February 6, 2026
Lexington, Kentucky
Gloria Mae Woods, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, peacefully traveled to paradise at the age of 99. Gloria was born in Wheeling, WV, and was a 1944 graduate of Wheeling High School. Gloria was primarily raised by her grandparents, Conrad Bringmann & Martha Aitken Bringmann. In 1964, when living in Bellaire, Ohio, Gloria gave her life to the Lord, and in 1966, the Lord led Gloria to move to Wilmore, Kentucky, with her six children, when her oldest daughter, Patti, began attending Asbury College. During her lifetime, Gloria worked in a variety of capacities including the newspapers in Wheeling, Dayton, and Lexington; Asbury College, UK College of Engineering, and Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government where she retired. Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, David U. Williams and Clyde W. Woods, as well as her parents, Mildred Collins Kronenweth & Howard Bringmann of Wheeling, WV, daughters Joyce Ann Woods, Patti V. Williams Ferrell (Sam), half-sister Sinda Kronenweth Sheets, and great-grandson Isaiah Cole Corcoran. Gloria is survived by her son Richard David Williams (Donna) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, son Daniel Howard Williams of Bainbridge, Georgia, daughter Jane Lynn Williams Harman (Gregg Graham) of Georgetown, Kentucky, and son James Edward Woods, Sr. (Cathy) of Lexington, Kentucky. Gloria is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Gloria had been a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lexington. Prior to that, the family attended The United Methodist Church in Wilmore. The family of Gloria wishes to thank the staff at Homestead Post Acute in Lexington for the fine care they provided during the latter years of Gloria’s life. Memorial gifts are encouraged to the Christian organization of your choice. This obituary was lovingly submitted by Gloria's family.
