Emilienne Josephe Stordeur Lopat, 100, widow of Julius Robert Lopat, of Churchill Crossing, Nicholasville, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at her residence. Emilienne was born in Brussels, Belgium, on July 24, 1925, to Joseph and Clemence Waters Stordeur. She worked as a Medical Librarian at Columbia University in New York City for more than 30 years. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Nancy (B.G.) Lopat Hubbs and Annette Marion (David) Lopat Shappiro, and three grandchildren, Greggory Shappiro, Nicole Hamm, and Nancy Onweaku. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Shappiro. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Father Aldrin Tayag officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lopat family in their time of need.
