Dorene Willis Peterson

Dorene Willis Peterson, aged 88, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Lebanon, OH.

Dorene was born on April 30th in Jessamine County, Kentucky, the youngest of seven children. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and cherished friend to many.

She was a lifelong active member at Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church. For many years, she delivered the children's messages on Sunday mornings. She used fun stories and everyday items to share biblical truths with sweet giftedness.

Dorene is survived by her son, Gregory Peterson (Carrie); daughter, Jill Peterson; grandchildren, Noah (Ali) and Raegan; and two nieces with their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willis Peterson, three brothers, and three sisters.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville, Kentucky. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories. The visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. 

She began each day by reading scripture and ended each day in prayer, leaving this legacy for those who came after her and encouraging others to do the same. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Queen City Hospice in appreciation for all the beautiful care they provided her.
