Donna Nickell Miller, 70, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 28, 2026. Born on July 25, 1956, in Lexington, Kentucky, Donna lived and was raised in Nicholasville, Kentucky, where she spent most of her life and built countless friendships and memories within the community she loved.

Donna's greatest joy in life was her family. She shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Bobby Miller. Their marriage was built on a foundation of deep faith, enduring love, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Through every joy and every challenge, they walked hand in hand, demonstrating the strength of a lifelong partnership centered on God and family.

Together they raised two sons, Stephen (Aimee Blevins) Miller and John Thomas (Kristi Merida) Miller, who were the pride of her life.

If there was one role Donna treasured most, it was being "Nanny." She absolutely adored her five grandchildren—Claire Miller, Emory Kate Miller, Braelynn Miller, Brock Miller, and Miles Miller. Whether she was cheering from the sidelines at a sporting event, celebrating life's milestones, or simply spending time together, her happiest moments were those shared with her grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Nickell. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby; her sons and daughters-in-law; her five beloved grandchildren; her sisters, June Richey and Edie Miller; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing her.

For approximately 20 years, Donna worked at American Hair on Boston Road in Lexington, where she developed lasting friendships with both coworkers and clients. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, qualities that extended far beyond her career.

She found great joy in the friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Donna was a longtime member of her Bunko group, where laughter, fellowship, and countless memories were shared over many years. She was a member of the Jessamine County Homemaker Happy Club for 50 years, where she and the other members shared lessons on caring for the home and family, and staying healthy and physically fit. As well as sharing recipes for healthy foods and delicious desserts. She also loved scrapbooking and looked forward to attending semi-annual scrapbooking retreats with her close friends, where they preserved treasured family memories while enjoying one another's company.

Anyone who knew Donna knew she was happiest supporting the people she loved. As a mother, she never missed one of the hundreds of soccer games her sons played while growing up. That same dedication continued as a grandmother, faithfully attending countless games, performances, recitals, and activities. She never missed an opportunity to encourage, celebrate, and simply be present for the people she loved.

Donna will be remembered for her kind heart, her selfless spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She had a gentle way of making others feel important, a smile that made others feel at ease, and a heart that always put family first. Her home was a place of love, laughter, and unwavering support, and her greatest legacy is the family she nurtured and the values she passed on through her example.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, they find comfort knowing that her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and the countless friends whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Cooper officiating. The visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time.

The burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Stephen Miller, John Thomas Miller, Ben Brooks, Ken Merida, Joe Blevins, Wayne Montgomery serving as bearers and David West serving as an honorary bearer.

The family asks that those who knew Donna honor her memory by loving their families well, showing kindness to others, and cherishing every moment together—just as she did throughout her life.
