Delbert Cletus Smith, 88, loving husband of Opal Lee Thompson Smith, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He was born in Strawberry, Arkansas, on May 18, 1937, to the late Elbert Smith and Jewell Pruitt Smith. Delbert was a veteran of the United States Army and retired after serving many years at the General Telephone Company. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Howard and her husband, Jim, two sons, Elbert Smith and his wife, Patsy, and Robert Smith, grandchildren, Delbert Hagan Smith, Spencer Smith and his wife, Maria, Geer Smith, Russell Howard and his wife, Meridith, and Jamison Howard, Griffin Smith and his wife, Marygrace, two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Henry Smith. Additional survivors include two sisters, Lavita Vanwinkle and Vonetta Smith, two brothers, Doug Smith and Raymond Smith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Smith, and two brothers, William Smith and Preston Smith. Services will be 9:00 AM, Friday, November 14, 2025, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Pastor Don Hudson officiating.
