Danny McLean Preston

Danny McLean Preston, 79, husband of Linda L. Preston, of Linden Lane, Nicholasville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on October 21, 1946, to the late Paul McLean and Ruth Locker Preston. Danny retired from IBM in 1990 and was a lifelong farmer in Jessamine County, where he raised cattle and tobacco for years. He also enjoyed raising, trading, and breeding horses. Danny is survived by his wife Linda, two sons, Sonny (Betsy) Preston, and Marc (B.J) Preston, eight grandchildren, Christopher (Danielle) Preston, Whitney (Sam) Thompson, Timothy (Tara) Preston, Amberly (Hunter) Brislin, Madison Preston, Chloe (Elijah) Dile, Macy Preston, and Marc-Allen Preston, and four great-grandchildren, Avery Keeton, Ryker Preston, Peyton Thompson, and Reilynn Preston. He was preceded in death by two cousins whom he considered closer than brothers, Allen Hager and William Hager. Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Wally Rendel officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Christopher Preston, Timothy Preston, Sam Thompson, Elijah Dile, Hunter Brislin, and Marc-Allen Preston. Honorary Bearers will be Eddie Locker, Jimmy Welch, Kenny Wells, Tommy Welch, Heath Hager, Mac Hager, Troy Hager, John Slugantz, Billy Riley, and Louis Grall.
