In Loving Memory of Daniel Roger Desrochers
“A heart full of music, hands built to serve, and a soul anchored in faith.”
Daniel Roger Desrochers, 58, widower of Susan Clay Grigsby, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at his home on Shanty Hill Road in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of Claudia Dunn Russell and the late Richard A. Desrochers Sr.
Dan was a skilled and passionate contractor who lived up to the name of his business, Jack of Many. Throughout his life, he took pride in working hard, building with care, and helping others with whatever they needed—traits that made him not only a trusted professional but a valued friend to many. He was also a vital part of DesRochers Painting, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression.
Music was at the heart of Dan’s life. He loved listening to it, playing it, and most of all—sharing it. Karaoke nights with friends were among his happiest times. With a song in his lungs and a guitar in his hand, Dan brought people together and lifted spirits just by being himself.
Known for his enormous heart, Dan lived generously and loved deeply. His faith in the Lord was a steady guide in his life, shaping how he treated others—with compassion, grace, and unwavering kindness.
Dan is survived by his sons: Joshua R. Desrochers (Ashley), Dale G. Desrochers (Elizabeth), Jacob G. Desrochers, Nathan P. Desrochers, and Jared B. Desrochers; his daughters: Ashley L. Desrochers, Emily A. Desrochers, and Julianna Desrochers; his brothers: Richard “Rick” Desrochers (Pam), Paul Desrochers and Gregory “Greg” Desrochers (Heidi); and his beloved grandchildren: Jackson, Caroline, William, Renee, Rachel, Holly, Allison, and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his father, Richard; and his son, Benjamin D. Desrochers.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Following the service, a graveside ceremony will take place at Lexington Cemetery, where Dan will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Susan.
In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the American Legion in Haverhill, Massachusetts, where friends and family from New England are invited to come together, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much love and joy to the world.
Dan’s legacy lives on through the love of his family, the friendships he cherished, the work he accomplished, and the songs still echoing in the hearts of those he touched.
