Charles R Eades

Sep 25, 1945 — Jul 24, 2026

Nicholasville

Charles R. Eades, age 80, loving husband of Sandra Joyce Drury Eades, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his home on Bethel Road in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky, on September 25, 1945, the son of the late Perry F. Eades and Grace Cox Eades.

Charles worked at the UK Physical Plant for 40 years as a plumber’s mechanic - he worked on the boilers and sprinklers. He enjoyed life as a farmer; building, tinkering with equipment, and raising livestock. He had numerous hobbies which included fishing, woodworking, baseball, and watching UK Basketball, and the thrill of taking something apart and trying to fix it. He was a jack of all trades and very creative without being braggadocious. If someone needed something fixed, they called him whether he was at work or home.

He is survived by his children: Sandy Hall and her husband, Ted; Frank Eades and his wife, Angelia; and Stephanie Hobbs and her husband, Brett. Additional survivors include grandchildren Devan Buchholz, Jacob (Jess Parker) Eades, and Dr. Spencer Hall; and 5 great-grandchildren Myiah, Kylan, Nova, Wyatt, and Westley. Additional survivors include two sisters, Nancy Watts and Mary Nell Shepherd. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sydney Hall; a grandson, Kyle Buchholz; and a sister, Patricia Cartwright Steffen.

Visitation services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Betts & West Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Ben Riffell officiating, and burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens with Chris Sumner, Thomas Bullock, Steve Taylor, Spencer Hall, Jacob Eades, and Devan Buchholz serving as bearers. Honorary bearers will be Special cousin and friend, Tommy Cox, Jimmy Powers, Bobby Powers, Jimmy Houp, Galen Tolliver, and Donnie Tipton. The family wants to acknowledge a special niece, Sarah Warren Sumner, thought of as a granddaughter.

This obituary was lovingly submitted by his family.  Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve Charles and his family in their time of need. Online guestbook at www. BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
