Bonnie spent her entire life in Nicholasville, where she built not only a beautiful home, but a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and love.

Bonnie Jean Land (Masters), 70, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Born on April 17, 1956, in Lexington, Kentucky, Bonnie spent her entire life in Nicholasville, where she built not only a beautiful home, but a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny Land; her parents, Virgil “Cubby” Masters and Mary Jo Mayes; and her sister, Gayle Carpenter and Nephew Derek Cruse.

She leaves behind her devoted son, Jared Wayne Hughes and his wife, Lisa Hughes; A Grandson she lovingly raised from birth and cherished as a son, Austin Land, his partner Miranda McGlone, and their precious boys, Cash and Sawyer, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Ashley Land and Jamie Murillo; her sister, Vicky Hubbard and husband Jerry, their son Jason, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many treasured friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness.

Her home was her favorite place in the world.

Bonnie had a gift for seeing beauty where others often overlooked it. She never passed up a yard sale, couldn’t resist a thrift store, and loved filling her home with antiques that each carried a story of their own. If something looked worn, she could usually bring it back to life with a little imagination—and probably a can of spray paint.

Her home was her favorite place in the world. Every flower bed, every antique, every carefully chosen treasure reflected the love and pride she poured into it. She worked tirelessly to make her home warm, welcoming, and beautiful—a place where family always knew they belonged.

For many years, Bonnie worked as a bus monitor for the Jessamine County Bus Garage. She loved the children she cared for each day, and that love was returned many times over. To countless students, she was far more than a bus monitor—she was a smiling face, a comforting presence, and someone who genuinely cared.

Above all else, Bonnie loved her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with those she loved, especially the little ones. Whether sharing stories, searching for hidden treasures, tending her flowers, or simply enjoying the comfort of home, she found happiness in life’s simple blessings.

Her memory will live on in every blooming flower garden, every treasured antique, every roadside yard sale, and every act of kindness inspired by the life she lived.

Most importantly, Bonnie loved Jesus Christ. Her faith carried her through every season of life and now gives her family peace as they trust she has been joyfully reunited with those who went before her. While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in knowing she is finally Home.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bonnie’s life at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Austin Land, Troy Murillo, Lupe Bucio, Jason Cole, Dwayne Cruse, and Jared Hughes. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Hubbard and Jesse LeMay.

Bonnie once wrote these words in her own handwriting:

“Please don’t grieve or shed no tears… Just remember all the happy times we spent throughout the years… Take comfort and be peaceful knowing that I’m gone, for in your heart I’ll live forever.”

Those words now bring comfort to the family she loved so deeply. Her memory will live on in every blooming flower garden, every treasured antique, every roadside yard sale, and every act of kindness inspired by the life she lived.

She made it Home.
