Billye Sue Scott Watts

Billye Sue Watts, age 79, passed away from cancer on September 25, 2026, at her home in Nicholasville, Kentucky, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was born to Nancy Yarnell Scott and Howard William Scott on October 5, 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Ralph J. Watts, and her son, Matthew Jones, who passed away in 2019.

Billye Sue is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Porch and Kristin Williams (David); her stepdaughter, Patti Gullette (Bobby); her stepson, Ralph David “Butch” Watts (Sylvia); and her brother, Gary Scott (Teresa).

She leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Kyle Estes (Jodi), Jake Estes (Kimberly), Kaylee Potter (Jacob), Colton Williams (Meredith), Baron Williams, Julie Deuser (Blake), Rob Gullette (Erin), Chasity Kittrell (Charles), Erin Watts, Laurel Nutter (Brandan), and Whitney Hall (Joe).

And she was blessed to have fifteen great-grandchildren: Olivia, Waylon Jacob, Brylee, Garrett, Cayson, Deacon, Beckett, Navy Jane, Phillip, Eleanor, Stella, Vivian, Kobi, Tate, Wyatt, Weston, and Waylon.

Her nieces and nephew also held a special place in her heart: Heather Walton (Adam), Gary Scott, Jennifer Tucker (Ben), and Jamie Whitaker(Robert), as well as her grandnephews and grandnieces, Landon, Graham, Ethan, Bailey, and Madison.

Billye Sue worked at Keeneland for thirty-eight years and enjoyed every single minute of it. She developed wonderful friendships there that lasted throughout her life. The first Friday of October could never get here quickly enough. She just had an extra pep in her step when Keeneland rolled around twice a year.

But if you knew Billye Sue, you knew she loved her bling. An outfit was never complete without her jewelry. She loved jewelry so much that she began selling high fashion Park Lane Jewelry and sold it for sixteen years.

Her other great love was football. Whether it was the Kentucky Wildcats or the Dallas Cowboys, when they were playing, she was either at the game, tailgating, or gathered with family watching on television.

Billye Sue was also preceded in death by two of her best friends, Bernice Corman and Sondra Carpenter. She is survived by her dear friends Bobbye Garrett, Judy Drakeford, Mary Beth Warner, Eva Joyce McDaniel, Judy Canter, Teresa Brown, and Rosemary Leo.More than anything, Billye Sue loved her family and friends fiercely. She believed life was meant to be enjoyed—with the people you love close by. Those who loved her will carry her stories, her laughter, and a little of her sparkle with them always.

Pallbearers: Kyle Estes, Jake Estes, Colton Williams, Baron Williams, David Watts, Bobby Gullette, David Williams, and Jacob Potter.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jim Loope, Jason Porch, Willie Hurt, and Donny Welch.

Visitation will be held at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, Kentucky, on Thursday from 4:00–8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin Friday at 1:00 p.m.

For those wishing to bring food for the family, please drop it off on Wednesday or Thursday before noon at 105 Fairway Dr., or on Friday from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at the Churchill Crossing Clubhouse where we will gather in celebration after the service.
