Betty Lou Upton Kestel, 82, widow of Charles Kestel, Jr., passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at her home in Jessamine County. She was born on January 9, 1943, to the late Cecil Upton, Sr., and Ailene Wilson Upton. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home and her family. She is survived by two children, Charles Keith Kestel and his wife Nancy, and Audrey Nicole “Nikki” (Tommy) Kestel, four grandchildren, Krystal (Phil) Welch, Chas (Kaneen) Kestel, Kevin Kestel and his wife, Katelin, and Coleman Kestel, three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Kestel, Charles Kestel, and Charlie Ann Welch. Additional survivors include two brothers, Cecil Upton Jr. and his wife Charlotte, Major McKinly Upton, and a sister, Patty Taylor and her husband, Marvin. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. The burial will follow in Wilmore Cemetery. The bearers will be Chas Kestel, Kevin Kestel, Shawn Kestel, Cecil Upton, Alex Williams, and Tommy Tillet. Honorary bearers will be Jim Hendren, Greg Becknell, Cecil Jr. Upton, Kenny Upton, Coleman Kestel, and Tony Naiper. The visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
