Bertha Snavely

August 4, 1943 — March 1, 2022

Bertha (Booty) Snavely, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1st in Nicholasville, KY. She was born in Princeton, WV on August 4th, 1943 to the late Mary Dicey and Blackstone Cooper. Booty was a 1961 graduate of Pearisburg High School. As a young woman she loved fast cars (especially her little red GTO), gardening, and crafting. As she grew older, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her siblings. Throughout her life she demonstrated her love for others through the decadent aromas that filled her kitchen and in serving the savory and hearty meals that filled our stomachs and warmed our hearts.
Booty was a hard worker who devoted her life to providing for her family. She was a tobacco farmer, an insurance agent, and a school bus driver. For years Booty and Bill made their home in Pennington Gap, VA where she loved and served the community. She was a long-time member of First Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, VA. She delighted in serving and caring for others. She loved to laugh, she loved to dance, and she loved her family. Booty was preceded in death by her husband William S. Snavely, her parents, sons Brian Morton and Billy Snavely, daughter Lisa Bratton, and her siblings Daniel Cooper, Rosemary Butler, and Rebecca Lynn Thompson. She will be remembered forever by her son Paul (Heather) Morton, sisters Elaine Dolinger and Maleta Guthrie, and brother David Blackstone Cooper. She will always be remembered by her son Paul (Heather) Morton, grandchildren Dylan (Kayla) Bratton, Zach Snavely, Seth Snavely, Cole Snavely, and Cooper, Chloe, and Casey Morton.
