Barbara Ann Branson

Barbara Ann Bowman Branson, 87, of North Lexington Avenue, Wilmore, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on March 17, 1936, to the late Frank Bowman and Zada Doeton Bowman. Barbara worked as a Nurse Aide for Saint Joseph Healthcare. She is survived by her son, Hugh Byron Sims III; sisters, Joan Mullins (Rick), Iva Scaggs (Rudy), Sylvia Clarke, and Sue Juelis; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith (Marcus), Tommy Michelle Wiggs, Jennifer Wiggs, Kristin Caudell (Daniel), Ashley Durham (Kenny), Hugh Byron Sims IV, and Shoshana Sims; and a host of great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two children, Cherice Wiggs, and Frank Stephenson; two brothers, Ralph Bowman, and Jack Odell Bowman; and one grandson, Stephen Sims. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 30, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwight Winter officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve Barbara and her family in their time of need.
