Winfred "Windy" Lewis

July 29, 1948 — August 25, 2009

Winfred -Windy- Lewis, husband of his loving wife, Shirley Belcher Lewis, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. He was a native of Perry County and the youngest of eleven children born into the family of the late Arthur and Rhoda Pratt Lewis. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, his son, Kenny Ray (Missy) Lewis of Morgan County, daughters Sherrie (Mike) Colliver of Mt. Sterling and Tracy (Ryan) Gregory of Charleston, SC. He was Papaw to eight grandchildren, Hannah and Olivia Colliver, Arthur and Ashley Lewis, Nick, Shelby and Leah Thorne and Lora Pope. He leaves two sisters, Lillie (Bill) York and Vina Faught, five brothers, Wallace Lewis, Verlon (Pat) Lewis, Steve (Gay) Lewis, Glenn (Linda) Lewis and Mickey (Avis) Lewis. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Forrester and Warren Lewis. Windy graduated form Leatherwood high School in 1966. He recently retired his jersey and jacket to Blue Diamond Y in Louisville. He served in the US Army. He retired after 39 years of dedicated services with Dover and Thyssen Krupp Elevator Services. He was an honorary retiree of Local 20 IUEC. He recently served as supervisor of Gumm Boot Construction and Mowing Service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and storyteller. He enjoyed traveling, camping, his office at McDonalds, many great friends and most importantly his grandchildren. He was a member of Victory Christian Church. Services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cornettsville, Perry County. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 pm today at Betts & West Funeral Home and Friday from 11:00 am until time of service at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be in Lusk Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being set up at Citizens Commerce National Bank, P.O. 5-9 pm Thursday at Betts and 11 am until time of service at the church

Funeral:
2 pm Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cornettsville

Interment:
Lusk Cemetery
