Wannie Clay Fairchild, 73, widower of Leslie Ann Myers Fairchild passed Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born March 29, 1943 in Johnson County to the late Espie and Eulah Hannah Meade Fairchild. Wannie was retired from Square D. He was of the Baptist faith. He was one of the original coaches for the Jessamine County Basketball League, an avid UK basketball fan and sports enthusiast. Wannie loved to garden and be outside enjoying nature. He was his children's biggest fan and supporter in their bowling activities. Family survivors are his two children, Michael Clay Fairchild and his fiancé Karen Boggs, Melanie Ann (Randy) Johnson, a grandson, Cameron Clay Johnson, his twin sister, Alice May Harmon, a sister Kay Burton, three brothers, Larry Fairchild, Mike Fairchild and Roger Fairchild and other family members. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Jo Ann and Espie Jr. Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. DeWayne Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and Tuesday from Noon until time of service. Bearers will be Jerry Harmon II, Danny Bell, Jason Millon, Mike Burton, Jason Williams, Erick Hager and George Denton. Honorary Bearers will be Don Smith, Robert Fryman, Marion McCarty, Charlie Albright, Paul Schell, Don Thomas and Donnie Elswick.
