Stephen Ray Thompson, age 56, of Shepherdsville, formally of Nicholasville, KY. Was born May 9, 1955 to Reverend John Thompson and Virginia Walton Thompson in Lexington, KY and returned to his Heavenly Father August 8, 2011. Mr. Thompson was and Administrator for bullitt County Schools, a deacon and Sunday school teacher with Devondale Baptist Church in Lexington. He was a avid outdoor sportsman, taught and couched West Jessamine Middle School and taught at Mount Washington Middle School, played basketball at Kentucky Wesleyan and received bachelors and Masters degrees from Eastern Kentucky University. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Laranda Gividen Thompson; daughters, Tammy Black (Casey), Kristi, Michelle, Kim and Laura Nevels; son, Kevin Rusher; parents; sister, Kimberly Floyd (Michael; brothers, Mark, John A. (Gail), Dale (Patty) and Scotty Thompson (Marla); grandchildren, Courtney, Nathan, Cody, Caleb, Cassie, Logan, Kennede and Leandre; mother-in-law, Rita Pearl; a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Keene, Kentucky with interment in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Friends may pay their Respects from 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) and from 4 P.M. until 9 P.M. Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home, 404 N. Main Street, Nicholasville, Kentucky

Visitation:
1-8 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brook and Thursday, August 11, 20011 from 4-9 pm at Betts & West Funeral Home

Funeral:
11:00am Friday, August 12, 2011 at Mount Pleasent Baptist Church

Interment:
Blue Grass Memorial Gardens
