Ruth Evelyn Arnett, 91

“Granny Ruth” Slusher Arnett, 91, passed away April 29, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tn. Born November 23, 1929 in Middlesboro, KY, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Slusher and the wife of the late Olney Arnett.
She was a lifelong early elementary educator, a former teacher in the KY Public School system in Nicholasville, KY. After retirement, she was an administrator at Porter Memorial Christian School in Lexington until 2000. She moved to Murfreesboro, TN where she spent the rest of her life, passion and energy serving God and others as a reading and writing Specialist at several early learning academies in the area. Up until her death, she was active with young children and families as a private tutor in her home. As a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, she was active as a Sunday school member and substitute teacher always willing to help with any project or need.
In addition to parents, Isaac and Sarah Slusher, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Olney Arnett; sister, Hazel Slusher Lair; and brother-in-law: Honorable John P. Lair of Cynthiana, KY; brother, Isaac Martin Slusher; and sister-in-law: Margaret Davies Slusher of Middlesboro, KY.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Henry B. “Sandy” Sandidge, Jr. and wife Donna of Rockvale, TN; two grandchildren: Gregory W. (Rachel) Sandidge and Jeana C. Lattus (Adrian) of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ellie Jo and Shelby Grace Lattus, Karina Elizabeth and Lincoln Gregory Sandidge; special nieces and nephews, Honorable John and Peggy Lair, Deborah Slusher, Virginia and Steve Martin, Sarah and Jeff Ausmus, JaneL and Charles Paynter.
Graveside service will be at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville, KY on May 5, 2021 at 2pm. Onluine guestbook at www.bettsandwestfuneralhome.com
