Rose Evelyn Smith Shuman

April 22, 1940 — August 1, 2015

Rose Evelyn (Smith) Shuman, 75, passed away Friday night at her home in Winchester, surrounded by her husband and children, after a battle with Leukemia.

Born and raised in Nicholasville. There will never be anyone again with such a generous spirit that always thought of everyone first. Rose was well known for sending cards to everyone, her passion for yard sales and auctions, her delicious cornbread, and her love for her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years George Dale Shuman. She is also survived by her four children Mike Shuman, Virginia (Jenny) Shuman, Julia Goldey (George), and Cecil Shuman (Cindy), twelve Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren, her sister Brenda Sams (Ernie), and her faithful dog Rusty.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Virginia Smith, her Grandson David Goldey, her sister Dorothy Shuman, and an infant sister Barbara.

Services are being held at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Visitation is Monday August 3rd from 5:00 - 8:00. Funeral will follow Tuesday August 4th a 1:30. Internment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her Grandsons.

Though her family will continue to mourn this amazing woman until we are called home to be with her. We can rejoice knowing she is at peace and watching over all of us. Heaven has gained an Angel but her family and the world lost one!

Maple Grove Cemetery
