Richard Brooks Brumfield

Richard Brooks Brumfield ,68, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born December 23,1952 in Lexington, Kentucky to Paul Brooks and Katherine Moore Brumfield. He grew up on Elm Street in Nicholasville, Kentucky and attended the local schools. He received his BA degree in Business from the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. On June 1, 1974, he married Diana McCollum of Des Moines, Iowa. Richard began his career at Kentucky Central Life Insurance in Lexington where he became Vice President of Underwriting before being transferred to Lincoln Financial Group in Greensboro, NC. He retired in 2015 as Senior Underwriting Director. He was a member of the Southeastern Home Office Underwriters Association (SEHOUA) and the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU). Above all, Richard cherished his family and was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and beloved brother. Left to honor his memory are his wife, Diana, daughter, Jennifer Reed, and son, Adam (Jaime) Brumfield, two granddaughters, Katherine Mackenzie and Alexandra Brooks Reed, and sister, Susan Braden, all of Nicholasville, Kentucky. Memorial service will be conducted Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2PM at Betts & West Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
