Powell Simmons Whitlock

Powell Simmons Whitlock, 86, loving husband to Wilma Whitlock, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Powell, born on August 14, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky to Leslie and Winnie Whitlock, founded Christ Community Church in 1974. He was retired from GE, and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing in his pastime. He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Gay Whitlock (Thom) Gorham and Karen Whitlock (Kevin) Purdy, four grandchildren LaDonna Gorham (Darrell) Roberts, Marissa Gorham, Gabrielle Purdy, and Jesse Purdy. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Brooks Lee Roberts. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Whitlock. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Christ Community Church with Rev. Vernon Adams officiating. Bearers will be Cheryl Spradling, Wayne Miller, Mike Miller, George Marlow, Charlie Hall, Wallace Stinnett, Ed Hager, Ricky Hager, Charlie Peel, Ed Miller & Harold Stevens.
