Paul J. Berke, 89, widower of Helen Berke, died December 31, 2012 at his home in Wesley Village. He was born on November 19, 1923 to immigrant parents Paul and Mary Berke, in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in Patton's 3rd Army campaigns in France and Germany during World War II. After the war he graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, where he met and married the love of his life Helen Siropolis on Jan 31, 1948. In 1972, they moved to Glasgow, KY., where he was the Plant Manager of the Eaton Plant and an active and faithful member of St Andrews Episcopal Church. He is survived by a daughter Paula Lynne Damron and her husband Rep. Robert R. Damron, Nicholasville, son, Eric Wallace Berke and his wife Annika, Columbus, Ohio, Grandchildren Capt. Robert P. Damron USAF and his wife Amarae, Jared Berke, and Laura Berke, and Great-grandson Coltin Ben Damron.

Family and friends will be received at Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville, KY on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 8:00 to 9:00 AM, with funeral services following visitation with Reverend Sewell Woodward officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery after the service. Pall Bearers will be Robert Damron, Capt. Robert P. Damron, Amarae Damron, Jared Berke, Laura Berke, and Rosie Peel. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr, Lexington, KY 40504 or the Camp Nelson Honor Guard, 213 South Town Branch Dr., Nicholasville, KY 40356.
