Nona Christine Brumfield Suell

Nona Christine Brumfield Suell, 81, widow of Robert M. (Bob) Suell, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Central Baptist Hospital. A lifelong resident of Jessamine County, she recently resided at Friendship Towers at Sayre Christian Village. She and Bob were married fifty one and one half years. Born October 9, 1930 to Clyde and Elizabeth Morford Brumfield, she graduated from Nicholasville High School and Kentucky Business College with a degree in bookkeeping. She was employed by Cowden manufacturing Company and Mortgage Company of Kentucky where she acted as a servicing manager for both residential and commercial loans certified by the Mortgage Bankers Administration. Nona was a member of Little Hickman Christian Church and a former member of the Nicholasville Methodist Church, a charter member of the Jessamine County Historical Society and a life member of Eastern Star. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, J.S., Clyde B. (Jack) and Douglas Wayne Brumfield, and sisters, Margaret Harris and Virginia Jerden Brumfield. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth (Libby) Brumfield-Lexington, nieces, Betty Shearer-Nicholasville, Mary Lynn (Larry) Hensley-Greenwood, IN, and Nancy Brumfield (Gary Murfin)-Kent, WA, a great niece and nephew and two great great nephews. Services will be 1:00pm Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Baltzer and Rev. Laura Beach officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7pm Tuesday. Bearers will be Howard Downing, Don Gabbard, Mark Landis, Jim Ed Shearer, Brad Teater, Glen Teater, David West and John West. Honorary bearers will be Paul Frederick, Jerry Lovitt and McClellan 'Mac' Webb. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Friendship Towers and Moberly Manor at Sayre Christian Village for their loving and compassionate care.
