Myrtle Beatrice Helton Bailey

Myrtle Beatrice Helton Bailey, 92, widow of John S. Helton and Kermit Bailey, of Wesley Village, died July 24, 2010. She was born September 2, 1917 in Pocahontus, AL to the late Jeremiah Daley and Betty Viola Edwards Mays. Myrtle was a former grocery store owner, member of the Wilmore United Methodist Church and had lived at Wesley Village for the last thirteen years of her life. Survivors are her daughters, Patricia Helton (Sam) Rochester of PA, Nancy Helton O-Neal of OH, a son, Dr. John D. (Sandy) Helton of Lexington, nine grandchildren, Craig Rochester, Elizabeth Rochester Miller, Nancy Rochester Kowalski, Dr. Jennifer Helton Bowman, Dr. John Mark Helton, Hannah Helton Parry, Dewon Wells, Andre Payne and Jonathan O-Neal, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a brother in law, Walter Rhudy of OH and other family members. Services will be 10:00 am Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Ditto officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm the same day in Elmwood Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Grandsons and great grandson will serve as bearers.
