Mildred Sponcil Collier

November 19, 1922 — February 4, 2008

Nicholasville-Mildred Sponcil Collier, 85, widow of Morris Collier, died February 4, 2008 after a brief illness. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was a native of Nicholasville, daughter of the late John T. and Susie Fain Sponcil. Survivors include a son, and his wife, Johnny and Doris Collier, grandchildren, John (Tricia) Collier, Alicia (Jason) Gillaspie and Brian (Taran) Collier, eight great-grandchildren, Caroline, Catherine, John Will, Patrick Dane, and Jude Collier and Drex, Luke and Whitney Clare Gillaspie, a sister, Evelyn Murphy, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Carolyn Burns and Lynn Montgomery. She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Collier, two sisters, Ann Willis and Mary Margaret Reynolds and two brothers, Donald and Charles Ray Sponcil. Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be John Collier, Brian Collier, Jason Gillaspie, Darrell Willis, Darren Willis and Victor Murphy. Honorary Bearers will be Greg Murphy, Mark Murphy, Debbie Waller, Donna Davis, Kathy Moss, Charles Sponcil and Sankey Johns. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
