Mary Elaine Houp Barron

November 13, 1936 — February 4, 2010

Nicholasville-Mary Elaine Houp Barron, 73, widow of the beloved husband Russell Barron, died February 4, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was a member of Bethel Christian Church where she was active in the Joy Circle and prayer group. Mary was a retired employee of the University of Kentucky (IMMR) where she was a coal lab technician. She was a native of Wilmore, daughter of the late Stanley and Lottie Lamb Houp. Survivors include three daughters, Shina Ray Montgomery Mendez, Tambara -Tammy- Elaine Barron( Kevin) Corman, Debra -Debbie- Louise Barron (Joe) Rainwater, grandchildren, Todd (Erin Thompson) Drury, Derrick (Christina Hunter) Drury, Barry (wife-Jacki Cassady) Corman, Candace Corman (husband-Ricky) Boyd, Chad (Elizabeth Hollingsworth) Rainwather and Breanna Rainwater, great grandchildren, Carleigh Drury, Shailey Drury, Cole Boyd and Madilyn Drury, brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Louella) Houp, her best friend and sister, Jean Duggins, Charles (Jennie) Houp, J.D. (Regina) Houp, Jimmy (Nancy) Houp, Nancy (Larry) True, Bradley (Susie) Houp and Connie (Cecil) Harris, numerous other family members, the Barron Family, her church friends at Bethel Christian, special friends, Juanita Ray, Jane Ashcraft, her friends in the Widows Group, all of her running buddies and her beloved pet, Tabitha, -Tabby- Lavon Barron. She was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Houp Powell and brother in law, Billy Duggins. Services will be 1:30pm Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bales. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-9pm Saturday and from 1-6pm Sunday. Bearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Kevin Corman, Joe Rainwater, Billy Joe Rainwater, Deacons of Bethel Christian, her brothers and brothers in law, Dr. Henderson, Frank Corman and Edward Drury.
