Marjorie Canter Carter

March 10, 1929 — May 15, 2013

Marjorie Canter Carter, 84, loving and devoted wife of 65 years to Ray 'Buddy' Carter, of Short Shun died at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was born in Jessamine County to Lee and Edith Beulah Green Canter. She retired from the VA Hospital in Lexington. She enjoyed a lifetime of music with her family and friends, her quilting and she loved her church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Jerry Carter and his wife, Debbie, her daughter Cindy Shearer and her husband, Ronald Dale, five grandchildren, Angie Bryant, Jennifer (Brian) Carpenter, Lisa (Shane) Whitaker, Jessica (Duane) Wilder and Ron (Trish) Shearer, seven great grandchildren, and a sister Virginia (Vernon) Montgomery, two sisters in law, Ida Ruth Canter and Faye Canter, two brothers in law, Harry Montgomery and John Nickell. Services will be 11:00am Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Don Carter, Ron Shearer, Brian Carpenter, Shane Whitaker, Duane Wilder and Kevin Bryant. Honorary bearers will be John and Joyce Barber, Mike Hammond Sr., Sheridan and Norma Flora, Irene Moore, Pat Hammond and Fay Back. Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday at the funeral home.
