Lela "Jean" Wingate

Lela 'Jean' Wingate of Nicholasville, KY was on born November 22, 1955 and passed away peacefully in her home on December 6, 2016. Jean was a devout Catholic who loved learning. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in English Literature. She went on to get a second degree from The Lexington Theological Seminary. The only thing Jean loved more than learning and teaching was children. Jean is survived by her mother, Amanda F. Wingate of Nicholasville, KY; two sisters, Karen Gates (Robert) and Diana Walker, both from Lexington, KY; her brother Michael (Vicki) of Sanford, NC; her nephews, Dale Walker of Lexington, KY, David Young (Samantha) and their children Mason, Teagan and Maya of Baltimore, MD; and Robert Wingate (Debbie) of Dallas, Oregon and their children Ellie and Evee; and her niece Kelli Palmer (Scott) and their children, Peyton and Lucas, of Greensboro, NC. Jean was preceded in death by her father Robert and brother Patrick. The visitation service will be held at St Luke Catholic Church in Nicholasville, KY on December 10 at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held at Keene Cemetery on Cemetery Lane in Keene, KY.
