John William Smith

John William Smith, 71, widower of Louetta Hager Smith, of Mackey Pike, Nicholasville, died Thursday, April 15, 2021. John was born in Lincoln County on February 4, 1950 to the late Floyd and Ruth Thelma McKinney Smith. He was a mechanic and a farmer. John spent much of his time working on tractors and cars for his family and friends. He is survived by one son, Jonathan H. (Alissa) Smith, two granddaughters, Remie and Bracie Smith who kept him busy over the years raising kittens, fishing, and feeding and taking care of their goats, horses, and cattle, seven brothers, Lester, David, Denver, Jeff, Ed, Ronnie, and Elby Smith, three sisters, Vivian, Wanda, and Norma Smith and all of their spouses, two brothers in law George Hager and Billy Floyd. Besides his parents and wife John was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene, and Viola Smith and two sister in laws Esther Davis and Twinkie Floyd. Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Mickey Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Jonathan H. Smith, Billy Floyd, Danny Ray Coldiron, Jason Davis, and Jeff and David Smith. Honorary bearers will be the Smith Family and all of John’s friends.
