John S. Houk

John S. Houk, 87, widower of Martha Woods Houk, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his home on Jessamine Station in Wilmore. He was born on October 24, 1934, in Brodhead, to the late Ottie and Mae Sexton Houk. He was a farmer, as well as a member of the Wilmore Free Methodist Church. John is survived by a brother, Calvin Houk, and sisters, Phyllis Sue Sadler (Jim), and Eva Bottoms. In addition to his wife, Martha, he is preceded by a sister, Lena Webb. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 19, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwight Winter officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, where bearers will be Tim Sadler, Greg Gibson, Nathan Gibson, Nelson Bottoms, Austin Bottoms, and Logan Hornsby. Visitation will be the evening prior, from 5:00 – 9:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Houk family in their time of need.
