James Markham Carter

April 22, 1918 — November 12, 2008

James M. Carter, 90, widower of Alma Carter, of Marietta Drive, died November 12, 2008. He was a retired employee of the University of Kentucky, a Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a native of Bourbon county, born April 22, 1918, son of the late Dessie and Betty Wilson Carter. Survivors include two children, Pauline Rogers and Mary -Pumpkin- Jones, five grandchildren, Crystal Campbell, William Ballard Jr., Melody Frisbee, Wayne Rogers Jr. and Mark Rogers, eight grandchildren, a sister, Mary Bell. He was preceded in death by two children, Jimmy Carter and Betty Lee Carter. Services will be 11:00am Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Harris. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9pm Friday. Bearers will be Wayne and Mark Rogers, William Ballard Jr., Jim -Red- Miller, Harold Fuson and Randy Abbott.
