James E. Carrier, Jr. age 62, son of the late James & Norma Carrier, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at the VA hospital on Cooper Drive. His family was at his side. James was a kind and gentle man always willing to help others. James died as a result of complications of PSP (Progresssive Supranuclear Palsy), a very rare fatal brain disease . He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law: Michael & Judy Carrier, three grandchildren, Brandon, Shane & Jackie, five great grandchildren: Josh, Bailey, Jacob, Jaylen & Alec. He is also survived by seven sisters and their families: Linda & Tom Osborne, Dixie Taylor, Rosemary & Monte Dailey, Norma & Tony Martin, Marylin & Will Stinnett, Molly & David Stromquist and Pauline & Stanley Horsley. Five nephews, four nieces and their families, a very special aunt, Betty Jean Pitts, many cousins and extended family. The family would like to publicly thank the wonderful staff at Bluegrass Health & Rehab - their kindness and compassionate care was a blessing to James and family. The family would also like to thank the Drs. & nurses who cared for James while he was at the VA Hospital. The care and kindness you gave to James and family is greatly appreciated. A graveside service with full military honors will be observed this week at Camp Nelson Cemetery. Betts & West Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family recommends a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to your favorite charity. James loved life, he loved the out doors, he loved to hunt & fish. His wish for us all is to live life to the fullest, love your family & friends and to always be thankful for what God has given us - he will be greatly missed.
