Jack Lemley, 90, passed away peacefully at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky, on February 16, 2022. He was welcomed with open arms by his wife, JoAnn, in heaven. Born in Monongalia County, West Virginia, on April 14, 1931, he loved nothing more than laughing and being in the barn playing around, trying to build something new or painting a birdhouse to give away. Jack was the life of the party no matter where he went and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was an amazingly generous man who loved his Model T Ford and being in the sun with a good diet Ale-8.
He is survived by his daughter, Drema (Neil) Howard, and three grandkids: Kyle, Adam, and Toria Howard.
We would like to thank everyone who has taken such amazing care of Jack during his time at Thomson-Hood. Each of you has become like family, and we will miss seeing you all every day. We have loved hearing stories of how he made you all laugh every day and how his presence would light up a room when he walked in. We have been so grateful to know he was always being well cared for, and that took a little bit of the stress off.
The family will hold a private military burial at Camp Nelson in the coming days. If you would like to make a donation, please donate to the "Resident Trust Fund" at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. Thank you for your prayers for us as we say, "Farewell for now," to someone we love so very much. Though death has taken you, we still choose to rejoice and know that Jesus is still good.
Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lemley family.
